Czech Zdenek Kolar, last year's champion, also retired in doubles due to medical reasons

Terrible bad luck for the Czech player Zdenek Kolar. The champion of last year's edition in singles, favorite no. 3 this year, he could not defend his title at the Concord Iași Open, due to medical reasons. The Czech ranked 113 ATP also withdrew in the doubles event, a day after he had given up and in the singles, in the first round, due to back pain.
Kolar and his Ukrainian partner Denys Molchanov, favorites no. 4 in doubles, should have played on Wednesday, in the third match on field 5, against the Belgian-Spanish pair Joris De Loore / Nikolas Sanchez Izquierdo, in the eighth. As Kolar retired, Loore and Izquierdo go to the quarterfinals.
On Tuesday, in the first round of the singles, Zdenek Kolar led in the confrontation with the Portuguese Frederico Ferreira Silva, score 6-4, 4-4, but he had to retire due to back pain, despite the intervention of the medical team.
