„Well, I played her a long, long time ago. I don’t even remember when, but I know her really well. We’re the same age, so we grew up together, in a way. I was expecting a tough match. The conditions here are different from where I come from, and it’s never easy to start a tournament, but I felt pretty good, honestly. I’m very happy that I won in straight sets and, yes, I’m happy with my level.”
„In Boston, I was playing well. I’ve been playing well over the past week, so now I’m finally winning matches and slowly getting where I want to be. I think starting a tournament is always different, but despite that, I felt pretty good today. As I said, I won in straight sets, and that’s important when you start a tournament.”
„It was already part of the plan to play the clay-court season during the summer. I also wanted to play here on clay and discover Romania a little. Unfortunately, I couldn’t play in Cluj-Napoca at the beginning of the year, so this was a good opportunity for me to come here, compete and play as many matches as possible.”
„I remember playing here once. As I said before, I lost to Rybakina, who went on to win the tournament and claim her first WTA title. I will never forget that. I don’t remember the other time, but please don’t remind me, because if I don’t remember it, it probably means I didn’t have a good result.”
„Today, I felt really good here. As I said on court, I grew up following Simona. She was one of my idols, and now we have a great relationship. Honestly, I feel that we are very connected. Spanish and Romanian cultures are also quite similar. Today, I felt a little like a local player, and I was really happy about that.”
